Business History: Academy of Sound
1997 - Began teaching out of her home, calling it Erin's Music Studio.
2003 - Opened a one-room teaching studio, Erin's Piano Studio, in downtown Oregon, WI.
2005 - Erin's Piano Studio expanded to two teaching studios and began offering voice and guitar lessons in addition to piano.
2007 - The studio became Academy of Sound, LLC.
2008 - In the summer, the Academy was devastated by two fires in one week. The Academy temporarily relocated to the People's United Methodist Church. Despite the move, student numbers grew to be too many to take back to the previous two-studio location.
2009 - The Academy moved back to the original location after rebuilding was completed. This time, they expanded to 5 teaching studios, and adding a waiting area.
2012 - The Academy opened an 18-month outreach location in Evansville, WI.
2015 - Currently employs 9 part-time teachers, and has reached over 100 students passing through the doors each week. These students can choose from private, partner, trio, or small group lessons in piano, voice, guitar, ukulele, bass guitar, drum set, brass, and woodwind.
2016 - Moved from the downtown location to its current residence inside of First Presbyterian Church, Oregon, WI.
2023 - Celebrated 20 Years
Other Business Ventures
Erin started her first business, CompoPrint, at age 9. Throughout childhood, Erin started and ran several businesses ranging from newspapers to computer education businesses, a Disney fan club, a car wash, and a campground.
In 2012, Erin co-founded Corner Property Management, LLC, a partnership specializing in property investment and management.
In 2013, Erin filed the articles of incorporation for Academy of Sound Foundation, Inc., a non-profit organization, which provides scholarships for Academy of Sound students in need. AOSF received 501(c)(3) status in February 2015.
In September 2014, Erin co-filed the Articles of Incorporation for Oregon Youth Center, Inc. The organization received 501(c)(3) status in October 2014. Erin served as its President until late 2019.
Erin currently works as a business consultant, bookkeeper and tax preparer for several companies around the world.
Volunteer Work
Erin worked as a Crisis Pregnancy Counselor for CareNet of Dane County, 2006-2009. Beyond her work inside the pregnancy center, Erin was an event public speaker, and has shared her story with audiences numbering in the thousands. Erin also modeled for marketing materials for Care Net.
Erin has an extensive social media portfolio, most of which she's done on a voluntary basis. In addition, she has served on numerous volunteer boards, also listed above.
